If you have a budget cap, Kanopy will automatically pause your patron-driven acquisition (PDA) program once you reach it. This will prevent your users from triggering additional license purchases.
You can also ask your Kanopy account manager to pause your PDA program at any time.
Frequently asked questions
How can I monitor the status of my budget?
You can monitor the status of your budget from your administrative dashboard. There you can find up-to-date information on amount of budget spent, film licenses purchased so far, usage statistics, and more.
Kanopy will also send you email alerts when you reach 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% of your budget.
Can I increase my budget to keep my PDA program active?
Yes. You can contact your account manager to increase your budget at any time.
What happens to the user experience when my PDA program is paused?
After your PDA program is paused, your users will still be able to watch any licensed films in your collection (until the film licenses expire).
By default, users will still be able to find unlicensed films in your collection, but they won't be able to watch them. Instead, they'll be prompted to submit a request for purchase for unlicensed films. You'll be notified of these requests by email and can decide whether to purchase licenses for those films.
If you'd prefer to hide unlicensed films so users can't request them, let your Kanopy account manager know.
