When embedding Kanopy titles, please always be sure to use the embed code that is generated within Kanopy itself. Remember, you can always find that embed code by navigating to the film you'd like to share and clicking on the "Share" tab. Within that tab, select "Embed" and copy the entire iframe tag that is generated by the embed tool.
To embed films without issue, please ensure that:
1) Your Kanopy website is set up to be HTTPS
The most common cause of embedded film issues is the use of a non-HTTPS URL at some point in the resource path. Most course management systems require embedded links to be secure and HTTPS only, meaning you cannot embed HTTP links.
If your proxy system is currently set up to use HTTP only, please let us know and we can help you to convert it to HTTPS.
2) Your browser accepts third-party cookies
Major browsers have begun changing how they handle cookies. At present, in order for Simple Access to work, Kanopy needs to be able create a session (via a cookie) in your web browser.
If you experience issues with embedded Kanopy videos, you may need to change your browser settings so that you can accept third-party cookies.
3) Your EZproxy stanzas do not point to a legacy domain
In the past, Kanopy used a different domain, and your EZproxy may be set up to point to that domain. So, if you happen to have two Kanopy stanzas—with one pointing to a domain other than kanopy.com—then please be sure to remove the second. If you have questions about reconfiguring your proxy for access to Kanopy, please contact us.
