Yes. To work optimally, Kanopy's Simple Access authentication needs to diverge slightly from typical university resource database workflows.
To determine if a user is logged in, most university resource databases check if the user has an active session with their university's authentication method (e.g., their proxy or SAML). By contrast, Simple Access checks if the user has an active session with your Kanopy platform.
If the user has an active Kanopy session, they'll be granted immediate access to your Kanopy platform. If the user doesn't have an active Kanopy session, they'll be prompted to log in to your platform with their university credentials. Once authenticated, the user's session remains active for 90 days.
